Too Many Tangents
Well, if I'm not going to work, I might as well blog. I can't concentrate anyway because I have the Kate Bush song "This Woman's Work" running through my head. Speaking of running, I first heard of Kate Bush (conciously, anyway) from the 8-disc 80's compilation that I purchased at Golden Discs in Dublin. Her song "Running Up That Hill" is on there. So is the Waterboys' "The Whole of the Moon," which I absolutely fell in love with, as well as the Stranglers' "Golden Brown," which is featured in the movie Snatch. But unbeknownst to my conscious self, I had heard of Kate Bush many years prior to that 1999 purchase, as "This Woman's Work" is prominently featured in the 1988 gem She's Having a Baby. And speaking of Kevin Bacon, I also recently downloaded his (that is, the Bacon Brothers) song "Only a Good Woman." It's a rollicking good time...
What was I talking about? Oh, not working. Course, no one else seems to be working either. Right now my coworkers are discussing which movies they want to see this weekend. And they are all movies that I have not seen yet! I have an obsession with movies. In the same way my boyfriend (and most guys in general) is obsessed with sports of all kinds and keeps track of people's names, stats, who's on which team etc., so do I keep track of movie stars' names, which movies they've been in, which awards they've won, etc.... There is so much useless knowledge stored inside my head that there's no room for useful knowledge, such as the square root of 3,572,904. Well, that's just a sad fact I'll have to live with. I choose movies.
