For those of you who were on pins and needles, neither verge occurred.
Movies I've Seen Recently:
Napoleon Dynamite (My nephew does the voice better I think; Yay for Tina Majorino -- anyone who gets slapped around by Meg Ryan* and doesn't back down is A-OK!)
Layer Cake (I must not have been 100% while watching because there were several scenes where I was wishing for subtitles; v. glad what's his name's fiancee was only it for a few minutes.)
Spanglish (Adam Sandler was surprisingly normal)
Junebug (see below)
Junebug
Saw this by myself the other night (I believe that is only the 4th movie that I have seen by myself in the theatre; I am working my way up to being a well-adjusted individual). I liked it for several reasons: Amy Adams (braces-wearing Brenda from Catch Me If You Can) was just as good as everyone said she'd be, completely ridculous and totally real. Of course the scene in the hospital made me cry. I have never watched The OC but I though that Benjamin Mackenzie was really good as the brother, and when he was scrambling to get the tape to work in the VCR I actually forgave him for being so jerky. I really like Alessandro Nivola (Laurel Canyon) and I liked him and Embeth Davidtz together in Mansfield Park, so it was cool seeing them together here. I loved the random yodeling as the opening scene. I liked the scene with the brother at work - it seemed out of nowhere yet showed him in a different light. And I like that most of the characters hadn't changed by the end.
