Blue Suburban Skies

Thoughts and Things

I was just reading through my blog entries from last year and making myself laugh. I love when I can make myself laugh. I coould kick myself for not keeping up with this blog like I should have - the observations about daily life are what make daily life bearable. So here is just a very quick update:

*I don't feel a day over 23.
*Work is the curse of the drinking classes. What more can I say; I am never going to appreciate the job, no matter how hard I try. And the harder I try to be good at the job the more I mess up. So fuck it, let's drink.
*We're going to Disneyland this weekend! See my report on last year's visit, and you'll understand why I am so excited. Plus it's the 50th!
*I am just as messed up and neurotic as I was this time last year, probably even more so. And the last 3.5 months have added so much fuel to the fire that I don't know if I can ever be talked down. (Ok, maybe that was a little dramatic, but I took Drama in high school and I might as well use it now and again.)
*I actually have been working on a few stories, but it's still very slow going. Sometimes I lament that I am not making any progress with my projects, but then suddenly I will get a new idea and have a burst of inspiration. It's just like Frauline Maria said: "When God closes a door, somewhere he opens a window." Well, it's not really like that, but similar.

Celibrity Stalker Strikes Again
Ok, I am not really a stalker, but I am amused by the fact that I have no problem with "ditching" work for 2.5 hours to stand around outside the ferry building in hopes of seeing the Prince of Wales. The Prince of Wales, for crying out loud, the frail old simper, not one of his hot young sons. But stand around waiting I did. Or we did, I should say, since I dragged a coworker with me. As much as I don't like being around people, I have to admit when I am pressed into the crowd with excited anticipation, and it suddenly I am bff with the people around me as we exchange rumors and pleasantries, I actually feel like a member of society. "OK, they're moving people aside... oh, they've brought his car around.... oh, they've stopped traffic - it must be any minute now." And then there they were and they walked past, and there they went. No photo, no handshake, nothing. But I certainly saw more of him than I saw of Dolly Parton.
Yes, dear, I know they put their pants on one leg at time, but there is something about seeing a famous person's pants that makes it worth risking my job. Go figure.
