Cock and Bull

No one is going to take this entry seriously because I haven't seen Crash, but come on! Isn't it just a little bit "bizarro world" that Matt Dillon and Sandra Bullock are in an Oscar-winning movie? Don't get me wrong - I loved Matt Dillon in the 80's ("let's do it for Johnny, man! we'll do it for Johnny!"), but squinting up your eyes does not equal serious acting. Bottom line: I am never going to understand how a movie can be considered the best when the acting and directing isn't.

Jon Stewart was pretty good as host, but I don't think the crowd got most of his jokes. Maybe he is too sarcarstic for Hollywood. I was worried that a few people (such as Joaquin Phoenix) were going to beat him up after the show. My favorite lines: "Bjork tried on her Oscar dress and Dick Cheney shot her," "next year we will have a montage of montages," and "current score: Scorsese: zero oscars, Three 6 Mafia: 1 oscar." Pretty surreal.

In other movie news, I saw Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story last weekend. Hilarious. So thoroughly British and oddball, I loved it! Also recently saw Hustle and Flow, The Constant Gardener, Upside of Anger, In Her Shoes, and Dear Frankie (absolutely lovely).

Fashion Watch
We went wine tasting over the weekend and I was much too distracted by something other than a certain vintage's underbelly of fig. If I see one more girl wearing those stupid, pointy-toe witch's shoes I am going to scream. And who the hell wears high heels when you are going to be walking around the damp countryside drunk? And why high heels with jeans? Either dress up or don't. Enough of this in-between crap. What kills me the most about these "fashionable" girls is that they all look the same. Conformity dressed up in skinny jeans and oversized sunglasses is still conformity.
