Blue Suburban Skies

"Come fairies take me out of this dull world, for I would ride with you upon the wind and dance upon the mountains like a flame." W.B. Yeats.

All the lads they smile on me when comin' thro' the rye

Another Scottish reference! Damn, I really am obsessed. I also really am a mess. Looking like a ragamuffin, operating on little sleep, staying up late to watch movies and reading trashy romance novels. Things are getting a little out of hand. Two more nights and then a week away; I am determined to be totally unfettered.

I watched On a Clear Day last night. It was somewhat slight, but sweet. I really like Peter Mullan, and it's hard to believe that just 10 years ago, he was giving Ewan McGregor an intravenous injection of hard drugs. He's a lot younger than I realized - only 46 if IMDb is to be believed. (I also liked him in The Claim.) Brenda Blethyn was in this one too, and you can never go wrong with her.

Also recently watched:
Monster House - funny and surprisingly scary, but I am not a fan of the stop-motion animation
The Matador - funny and surprisingly good
North Country - too depressing
Little Miss Sunshine - loved it! loved it! loved it! That cute little Abigail Breslin was also the cute daughter in Signs (the water is contaminated) and she is also in a movie called Keane, which I haven't seen but have *almost* rented a few times. Toni Collette is in this one too, and you can never go wrong with her.

I have my screenwriting class tonight (did I mention I am taking a screenwriting class?). I still haven't come up with a story idea yet, and we're all supposed to "pitch" our ideas to each other tonight. Ugh. But the good news is we get to watch The Professional.
