just keep writing, just keep writing....
I am still having health issues. I seemed to have recovered from the sickness I had last month after the road trip. But now I have had a headache for the last 6 days or so, and today I feel the way I felt last month. Which is not good, for me or for anyone else. But I want to try and keep up with this blog (if nothing else) despite the crappiness. So here we go....
Recently watched:
Vera Drake - very somber and British. I liked it a lot, but was strangely unsettled by Vera's crying and sad-sackness at the end. Even if she felt bad about getting arrested and disappointing her family, she spent 20 years thinking she was helping woman who really needed help, so wouldn't she still feel that way?
The Station Agent - not at all what I was expecting, even though I wasn't sure what to expect. I loved it!
Marilyn Hotchkiss' Ballroom Dancing and Charm School - kind of weird, but cute. An excellent performance by Donnie Wahlberg. The best thing about it, though, was the fact that the flashback scenes were filmed 15 years ago for the directors' film school thesis. I love how they managed to work that into this movie. And the little boy who was in that movie 15 years ago had a small role as an adult in this film. It's the guy who was in those Mighty Duck movies.
Capote - we watched this in my screenwriting class. The first third was really good, but then I thought it kind of lost steam. I think it is because the second half of the movie spans several years, so there wasn't much time to include a lot of meat.
