Nomination Nonsense

OK, anyone who knows me knows that I love (read: am obsessed with) movies. Well, the Oscar nominations were announced this morning, and not surprisngly I have some comments:

The Queen -- cute movie, but more on a Lifetime TV movie scale, in my opion; it really is getting too much attention.
The Departed -- well, I guess I need to see this movie.
Little Miss Sunshine -- How great would it be if this movie won best picture?! And how cool is it that Abigail Breslin has been nominated for best supporting actress?!
But the Best Picture Category overall? -- snooze.
Best Actor Category -- Leonard DiCaprio and Will Smith: been there, done that. But Forrest Whitaker, Ryan Gosling, and Peter O'Toole?? You go boys!
Half Nelson -- I really need to see this movie.
Jackie Earle Haley -- don't call it a comeback! This guy was in some really classic movies, including Breaking Away with a very young and very skinny Dennis Quaid and Daniel Stern, but I had no idea he was still around.
Children of Men -- why is this movie nominated for best screenplay but nothing else? My sister said the movie is so good that she wants to have the director's babies, so I am quite surprised it wasn't nominated for best director.
